The flu is quickly spreading
Once confined to pig populations in Mexico, the swine flu (or pig flu) appears to be quickly spreading among humans. This new type A influenza virus has had drastic effects in Mexico causing dozens of fatalities.
All age groups are at risk
Hundreds of schools and public areas are closed in an attempt to control the rampant increase of infection cases. The World Health Organization is monitoring the virus that has been carried into the U.S., Asia, Canada and Europe. The symptoms of the swine flu are similar to other types but unlike the regular flu, the young and elderly are not necessarily the high risk groups with all age groups being vulnerable.
Avoid infections by taking precautions
Understanding how the virus is transmitted may help to prevent contracting the disease. There are several ways that a person can become infected either by direct or indirect contact. Taking precautions in both cases may provide a safeguard to avoid becoming sick.
Direct Contact to infected persons can spread the virus, read more about it.
