U.S. and global concern about the Swine Flu

The current outbreak of the swine flu (or pig flu) has caused international concern. The new strain of type A influenza is believed to have originated in Mexico. Once confined to animals, the sometimes fatal virus has now spread to the human population. Dozens of severe cases including deaths have occurred in Mexico resulting in the closure of many schools and public places. The outbreak of newly infected people covers several continents and concern for control of the disease is affecting all nations.

Immunization efforts

Having the ability to prevent the swine flu is a high priority for the World Health Organization as well as local health officials. The affects and symptoms of the disease receive continual review and study in order to create an effective immunization program.
