Swine Flu is highly contagious

A person who has been diagnosed with swine flu is highly contagious. Normally their physician will recommend that they isolate themselves from other family members and the general public.

A person can be infected without even knowing

However, a person who unknowingly has contracted the virus is just as contagious even though they may not have severe symptoms. The mucus created by the illness can be easily passed to another person.

Avoid physical contacts during a flu outbreak

Touching or shaking hands, kissing and even hugging a person may spread the disease. Exposure to the mucus from touching handrails, utensils or other infected objects may also spread the virus.
